Free Tax Preparation Offered
by InterServ, United Way Partner Agency

Promoted by the United Way Financial Stability Initiative

Increasing the use of free tax preparation is one focus area of the United Way Financial Stability Initiative, so the initiative promotes free tax preparation offered by InterServ, a United Way Partner Agency.

In 2017, seniors with a household income of less than $53,000 in 2016 may qualify for free tax preparation assistance from IRS certified VITA volunteer preparers. In addition, people may qualify for up to $6,300 from the Earned Income Tax Credit. Free tax preparation services began February 1 and last the duration of tax season as appointments are available.

To schedule an appointment for free tax preparation during tax season through InterServ, call (816) 232-7779.

Through free tax preparation, local residents can keep and save their own money. United Way of Greater St. Joseph promotes the opportunity because we improve lives by supporting the health, eduction, and financial stability of people in Northwest Missouri and Northeast Kansas; maximizing tax refunds is helpful for a household's financial stability.

NOTE: If your household made $64,000 or less in 2016, is an easy, safe, and free way to file your taxes online. Available for residents in all 50 states and the District of Columbia, you can file your federal and state returns for free through the site.
