It seems as if our understanding of autism spectrum disorder is constantly changing. Recently there have been major changes ranging from diagnosis to therapeutic modalities. Most of these changes stem from the one constant of autism: every child with autism is drastically different. The more that we understand about these differences, the better prepared we can be to support children, families and communities.

Dr. Brad Mears, professor at University of Central Missouri, has researched and presented on many topics, including autism, brain-based learning, early childhood development and education, behavior analysis and intervention. He has worked in public schools from pre-k through high school. In his spare time, he enjoys spending time with his family, boating, fishing and traveling. He has been described as an engaging and instructive presenter.
