Winter Emergency Shelter Plan

You are here

This plan was developed by representatives from the following agencies and organizations: Community Action Partnership of Greater St. Joseph; Community Missions Corp.; Family Guidance Center; InterServ; The Salvation Army; City of St. Joseph; Mosaic Life Care; Community Alliance of St. Joseph; YWCA;  and United Way of Greater St. Joseph.

The Plan:

The Emergency Cold Weather Shelters will operate in addition to regular shelter services that are available within the community including YWCA and The Salvation Army.

*Weather conditions will be monitored beginning November 1, 2021. If the weather forecast predicts conditions that meet Code Blue criteria, the coalition will work together to set up a Code Blue shelter for the nights when conditions warrant with location, hours and staffing to be determined. If forecast predictions warrant, the end dates for both shelters may be modified.
