United Way of Greater St. Joseph is honored to recognize the extraordinary legacy of Jan Miller, whose lifelong commitment to volunteerism and service left an immeasurable impact on the St. Joseph community. Jan's legacy will be honored during the Friday, July 24, St. Joseph Mustangs game as part of the United Way TEAM PLAYER Award recognition.
The United Way TEAM PLAYER Award recognizes individuals and organizations that exemplify the spirit of teamwork by putting others first and dedicating their time and talents to strengthening our community. While Jan passed away in early June 2026, her remarkable legacy of service continues to inspire those who knew her and the countless lives she touched.
Jan was nominated by Angel Hovey of Pivotal Point, where she devoted herself to serving others from the organization's inception in 2011, when it was known as Hillcrest. Over the years, Jan contributed more than 5,000 volunteer hours, more than any volunteer in the organization's history. She faithfully led Pivotal Point's largest-selling department, giving her time, talents and heart to help advance its mission.
Even while courageously battling cancer, Jan remained dedicated to the organization she loved. Though receiving hospice care, she continued checking in, encouraging volunteers and supporting the work whenever she was able. Her unwavering commitment and servant's heart inspired everyone around her.
Jan's impact reached far beyond Pivotal Point. She believed deeply in serving others and generously gave her time to numerous organizations throughout the community. A gifted planner, organizer and leader, Jan was known for mentoring others, sharing her knowledge and leading by example. She was always willing to teach, always eager to learn and always focused on helping others succeed.
Through her compassion, generosity and selfless dedication, Jan embodied the very spirit of the United Way TEAM PLAYER Award. Her legacy lives on through the organizations she strengthened, the volunteers she inspired and the many lives she helped change.
