St. Joseph, MO — United Way of Greater St. Joseph is now accepting applications for the Leadership St. Joseph Class of 2027, the program’s 45th class, continuing a longstanding tradition of developing informed, connected and engaged community leaders.
United Way Leadership St. Joseph is an initiative of United Way of Greater St. Joseph with a mission to build the skills of individuals to be effective leaders in the community. The program has graduated more than 1,000 participants, many of whom have gone on to serve as leaders within their workplaces, nonprofit organizations, boards and throughout the community.
Through a year of immersive learning experiences, participants gain a deeper understanding of the opportunities, challenges and critical issues facing the St. Joseph area. The program explores topics including education, health, business, arts and culture, social services, local government and community history, while providing firsthand experiences with local organizations and community leaders. Along the way, participants strengthen their leadership skills, build meaningful connections and become part of a powerful network of leaders committed to making a difference in the community.
The 2027 program begins with a two-day retreat on January 14–15. Following the retreat, the class will meet during business hours on the second Thursday of each month:

November 10 • December 9
Applicants should reside and/or work in the St. Joseph area. Class size is limited, and applications should be submitted by 5 p.m. on Friday, November 13, 2026.
Tuition for the 2027 program is $1,850 per participant and is non-refundable.
