United Way of Greater St. Joseph is proud to recognize Penny Graeff as a recipient of the United Way TEAM PLAYER Award, presented in partnership with the St. Joseph Mustangs. Penny will be honored during the St. Joseph Mustangs game on Friday, May 29, where she has been invited to throw out a ceremonial first pitch.
The TEAM PLAYER Award celebrates individuals and groups who exemplify the spirit of teamwork by putting others' success first and dedicating their time and talents to strengthening the community. The award recognizes volunteers who make a meaningful impact across local nonprofits and organizations throughout the St. Joseph area.
Penny was nominated by Kayla Marmaud of Community Action Partnership of Greater St. Joseph (CAPSTJOE) for her years of dedicated service and advocacy for children and families. Penny has been a dedicated supporter of CAPSTJOE for many years and continues to make a meaningful and lasting impact on the families the organization serves.
Penny has served on CAPSTJOE’s Board of Directors since January 2020 and currently serves as Board Secretary. Prior to joining the board, she served on the organization’s Policy Council for five years. She has also been a passionate advocate for children and families through her participation in Child Advocacy Day and her service on the Missouri State Advisory Council in 2019.
In addition to her leadership and advocacy work, Penny has supported CAPSTJOE’s Head Start program by hosting book fairs, donating books and regularly serving as a guest reader in classrooms to help foster a love of reading among children.
Volunteers like Penny play a critical role in the success of nonprofit organizations. Their dedication helps ensure programs and services continue to make a positive impact throughout the community. The United Way TEAM PLAYER Award highlights those who go above and beyond in service to others while encouraging continued volunteerism across the region.
