St. Joseph, MO — United Way of Greater St. Joseph is seeking volunteers from a variety of career fields to participate in United Way Speakers’ Bureau, helping students explore career opportunities and discover the many paths available to them after high school.

Through United Way Speakers’ Bureau, volunteers representing a diverse range of industries share their experiences, career journeys and insights with students, highlighting opportunities that require varying levels of education and training, from a high school diploma to advanced degrees. The program helps students explore potential career paths and discover opportunities available throughout the area.

This school year, United Way is partnering with three area school districts – Mid-Buchanan R-V, Savannah R-III and St. Joseph – to connect career speakers with students in more than 20 schools.

Career speakers volunteer in a variety of settings, depending on the needs of the participating schools. Opportunities may include career panels or career days.

United Way encourages individuals from all career fields to consider volunteering. Businesses and organizations are also invited to involve multiple employees representing different professions, giving students exposure to the wide variety of opportunities available within a single workplace.

Individuals interested in volunteering as career speakers during the fall semester are encouraged to register by Wednesday, October 21, 2026. Additional opportunities will be scheduled for the second semester.
