ST. JOSEPH, Mo. — United Way of Greater St. Joseph will host three Caring Connection volunteer sessions this September to assemble 900 Meal Kits to support neighbors in need across Northwest Missouri and Northeast Kansas.
To accommodate a variety of schedules, United Way is offering multiple dates and times:
• Tuesday, September 15, from 5:30 – 7 p.m.
• Thursday, September 17, from 9 – 10:30 a.m.
• Saturday, September 19, from 1 – 2:30 p.m.
All sessions will take place at United Way of Greater St. Joseph, 118 South 5th Street.
Meal Kits assembled during these events will be distributed through partner agencies, churches and local organizations to support individuals and families facing food insecurity. The initiative is made possible in part by generous financial support provided last November by Mosaic Life Care and Mosaic Life Care Foundation.
“Back-to-school season can bring added expenses and stress for families already working to make ends meet,” said United Way President Kylee Strough. “These Meal Kits are one simple way we can help ease that burden and make sure our neighbors have food available when they need it.”
The volunteer opportunities are open to individuals, families, workplace groups and volunteers of all ages. Tasks include sorting, assembling and packing Meal Kits.
United Way Caring Connection Crew began last spring as an engagement pilot program and continues to grow, providing ongoing opportunities for community members to come together in service. The program focuses on creating flexible, welcoming ways for people to give back while addressing local needs.
