Cancelled Events

By this time, we suspect you have heard from nearly every organization you support and do business with about COVID-19 and here is our update from United Way of Greater St. Joseph.

Following CDC recommendations, the local emergency order and our desire to help flatten the curve, protect our volunteers and supporters, and allow each of us to focus on what needs our attention most in the coming weeks, we are cancelling all United Way led events, meetings and activities (including gatherings that expect fewer than 50 attendees). As the situation evolves, we will continually assess and adjust as needed. The United Way office will be closed to visitors and we will encourage staff to work from home whenever possible. During this entire time our work to carry out our mission will continue, it may just look a bit different than it has in the past. (decisions and discussions via email, zoom, conference calls, etc.; office phones will be answered 24 hours a day by United Way staff; most staff will be working and available via technology; etc.)

As always, we will be supporting our Partner Agencies, assisting them where possible and working together to meet needs – existing and new. Communication during this time will be key, and fortunately in 2020 we have more communication tools than ever before.

We look forward to staying connected with you via technology and reconnecting in person in the coming months.

If you are interested in volunteering:

Please click here to express your interest in volunteering. At this time, we are following all local, state and federal recommendations which encourage individuals to stay home, distance themselves from others and help stop the spread and flatten the curve, so we will not be encouraging widespread volunteering. But, we expect there will be needs for volunteers as this situation continues to evolve and as we are able to move about and gather in groups again. We will reach out to you when that time comes.
